Mine came with a free one year subscription (I think???). I never use it, so I'll have to try and see if its still active.

Great!!! Not sure about it over here... My wife likes to sit in the car in parking lots when i am running errands... So it would be a " nice to have feature". My q5 had wifi so u knw how comparisons start... I will most probably pay for it... But a trial version would give her an idea if it's useful...

Its "clunky" to say the least...not sure if you can pair your phone to it as a hot spot though, never tried.

I would agree that it's slow. I think our 2016 is 3G however I heard they are looking at a new unit that will be quicker (4G). So far I've used it to search something. I think if I need to find something quick my phone would be my best bet. Mind you this does give the ability for everyone in the car to look at the same thing on a bigger screen.

Yes, it's still 3G and the user experience is appalling. No one in their right mind would ever actually use it. The pages take forever to render - mostly wrong - and if it's heavy on graphics/images then most often it will just time out.

I was a bit shocked to learn when i got my x5 that 3G it is... You know what also uses 3G technology now? iPhone 3G. July 11 2008 it was released. (iPhone 3G). BMW uses 2008 technology in 2015 car( i am sure it is the same in 2016). Strange.

LOL, I know...it's old and slow technology. That's why I'd use my phone. I wonder if I can import some favourites without having to input them in.

My coding guy says there is a new unit coming that is a quicker unit and will have 4G as well as something else. I can't recall what he said exactly.

Yeah some of the cars already have NBT Next which has 4G LTE…

Anyways it's a waste of money. You can only use when you're parked. I'm not sure why anyone who is parked would use this. It would easier to browse on your phone.

According to my sales person, depending on the options you get in the car depends on if you get the internet access or not. It is not fast or easy to use, but when that is all you have... then that is what you use. It is a trial subscription, not sure how long, or what it will cost when the trial period is up. I suspect I will not be renewing when the time comes.
