??? It's a mid trunk spoiler….
I wouldn't call a $25,000 bodykit and the design weird … but to each their own.
Tomorrow the carbon roof spoiler arrives. The X is at the shop getting top and rails wrapped gloss black.

The rims I want to put on are these.. but having a hard time finding them 22x12. Wouldn't even mind 22x13

Guys I'm out.
Thanks for the ones who helped me. I came here to share and have fun, not negative comments. I'll move to another site that's more open to modding.
Btw I'm working with BC to correct spring rates for extra low kits. The 14/12k rates won't cut it. Have a 20k rear swift spring arriving tomorrow to try out.
Anyways. Y'all take care.

To be honest, your car and mods is 'your' labor of love and there will be some who will like it and some who won't. When you are discouraged remember that most people are sheep and do things to get approval from others, so don't let others detract you. What you are doing is hard and needs effort and skill. Most people are just leasing a car for 3 years and that's easy…picking something nice out of a catalog is easy….

I wish you all the best. I really admired your work.

Well said. I enjoy seeing what everyone does to individualize their ride. I may not appreciate the mods all the time but I appreciate their efforts and still enjoy seeing the progress. As someone once said on the forum, unless they are paying your car payment, you do not need to care about anyone else's opinion.

Shame you're leaving (too late to change your mind?). As others have said your build isn't one if adopt myself, but I follow it with interest and always click on the thread when updated. Whether people appreciate the aesthetics or not, they surely have to admire your passion and vision.

Hope your X5 turns out the way YOU want it

Nah, to hell with that! There will always be some one who is judgmental of the things you do, especially in the world of cars. Doesn't matter where you go. On top of that the BMW crowd is a tough crowd. A lot of great people, but a lot of opinionated high pedestals as well. Most of the people who get a BMW would never think to do anything to it outside of wheels and tires, let alone do THEIR OWN carbon work. You're doing this work yourself, and thats great. Gotta take what they say with a grain of salt and move on.

I for one would love to continue to see the progress of this build. It's outside of the normal boring "Hey guys, what do you think of my M wheels and carbon fiber mirror caps?!"

Also, IMO I don't think dev was trying to be negative in their comment. Mid spoilers are not a common thing to see.

Ok ok, I'll stay and continue to post. Thanks guys for the support.
I might have been a little hasty and running on 4 hrs of sleep over the last 2 days.
Your right..: I could go out and buy a new M5 and go look at me! I got new rims! ( wife might kill me and then take it lol)
I enjoy being different and pushing it. When I was young I built custom cars to get through college and now 40 and making more money than I ever dreamed of…. I wanted to have fun again and make this BMW my own.

I'm glad you're staying and hopefully you'll continue to post pics of your build, but please keep in mind you're posting on a public forum so comments both positive and negative come with the territory.

Glad you're sticking around. As others said, all your mods aren't to MY taste... but that's because I am ME, and you are YOU. Keep making that thing yours. Automotive forums are about sharing things, some will support your ideas and others will have their own ideas. Thicken up your skin and enjoy the process.

I come back to this thread because I enjoy owners who work hard on their cars and you are certainly doing that. Respect.

If I could find some carbon fiber floating center caps to match those would be a nice look on mine. Nice come up.

Wow. Can't wait to see the results. I love these build threads. In the end, they are all amazing and unique in their own ways. I started my journey looking at Erik's version and since then gotten inspired by so many others. Some work out well, some not so much. But it's all been fun. I for one am a fan of carbon fiber. LOL.

Nah man you're doing good respect! And i seriously don't understand how someone goes out of their way and takes a time to write something negative.
It's seriously easy, If you like it cool, if you don't also cool but no need to drag someone's build down.
Unfortunately this is something we have to live with in the car community...
You do you i enjoy reading about your progress and your approach
