2015 BMW X5 xDrive N55: warranty expiring in January 2019
Our other vehicle in the family - 2015 BMW X5 xDrive with N55 engine - is approaching 4 year mark after 22K miles. The mileage is very low and we plan to keep the car for a while.
Few items on the agenda: - Ask the dealer to do a pre-purchase inspection (PPI) and fix anything that might come as a warrant repair. I just scanned all codes and _nothing_ came up. - Did anyone do a PPI recently in SoCal / Orange County area? Very interested in everyone's experience. - Consider buying mechanical breakdown protection policy from my credit union. About $3K. |

Get the PPI from an independent mechanic, not the dealer. I don’t live in Orange County, but you probably have one of the most recognized independent shop in all of the country in your area - allgermanauto in Escondido. I’d check them out.

Thanks for the recommendation. The goal of performing PPI at the dealer is to get any identified repairs done under the warranty. I will nevertheless take a look the shop you recommended.

If your mileage is accurate then you are doing approx. 5K miles per year... considering this I find it hard to believe anything will happen to you X5. Most issues happen at higher mileage with wear and tear. I too have about 27K miles on my X5 and drive it only on the weekends mostly and my warranty runs out in March 2019. My plan is to roll the dice and hope that I won't face any major problems with the car.
