Extended Warranty companies
I'm in the process of buying a 2017 X5 with 75k miles, and want to purchase an extended warranty. From my understanding, I can't buy from BMW because the factory warranty expired.
What are my options? I'm looking for coverage that's accepted by BMW dealership. Any reputable companies out there? |

I've had a good experience with Route 66 on my e92. Even though it is extensively modified they have covered major repairs such as a new DCT that broke due to too much torque.

I’m looking for an extended warranty as well, and there seems to be a lot of threads saying Rt66 doesn’t cover X5’s anymore. I’ll probably call a local CU I know that sells them on Monday and see if they can give me a quote based on my VIN.

Credit unions usually offer mechanical breakdown protection policies (aka extended warrant when warranty expired). Worth exploring.

Route 66 was the best 3rd party warranty, I had it for my E70 (zero deductible exclusionary plan for 8yr from date of plan purchase/100k miles on odometer for < $3k). Unfortunately, they stopped covering X5s around 2015 (thanks N63!!).
I'd recommend you look at CNA plans (underwriter for carmax plans too). They're only sold in dealerships, you can get a list of dealerships that sell these plans in your area by calling CNA. If your vehicle is still under warranty, I'd highly recommend uswarranty - currently have an exclusionary plan in my 2017 F85, and was less than half the cost of a bmw platinum plan, with longer coverage as well. My BMW SA said the claims process was very smooth. I also came across a very good inclusionary plan from libertybell auto, but I decided to go for the exclusionary plan from uswarranty. |
