N63 mixture control

I recently purchased a 2014 x5 50i m sport.

And I am trying to track down the issue. I’m getting the mixture control deviation to rich. I did notice today that when sitting stationary I can kind of smell fumes. (As I did with my s63 x5 m) Sometimes if I sit and let it idle a while, a Puff of smoke comes out after taking off.

I did some investigating. And saw that the intake pipes were cracked. So I replaced those. And still have the code.

Could this be related to the airbag light and electrical?

Could this be the oil return lines under the turbos clogged up?

How did you end up landing on the HPFPs? What else did you try?

I popped the drain plug. And it (the oil) smelled like gas.

And my friend who is a master tech at BMW said it’s common. And since it is “mixture control” that is coming up for a code. Which relates to the HPFPs themselves.

The mixture control can also be related to injectors. And Low pressure fuel pump.

I counted both of those out of carrying out the bmw diagnostic step by step test plan for each fault entered.
