3.0 D Check Engine Light Ons and Offs

New owner here, have had a F15 3.0D with 50K miles for 3 weeks. Purchased in Germany directly from BMW, so (hopefully) no foul play suspected.

Yellow Check Engine light has lit up a few times. It never blinks, just stays there, then morning after or a couple of days later it offs again.

All vehicle checks are OK, and of course I'm in the middle of an on-the-road 2-week family vacation so I wouldn't really want to take the car to a dealer in the middle of it.

I've read about loose fuel caps triggering this, I've tightened mine a few times, it doesn't seem to be the cause.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Any OBD scanner will give you information. Try to pull stored codes and post them here.
