Chalky spots on interior plastics?

Our car is a 4/16 build with ~7000 miles on it. Black interior. Once I cleaned the front door panels, glove box door, and driver's knee panel with what I would describe as a chalky-looking haze. I cleaned it with a damp (water) cloth. It has come back a second time. No chemical has ever touched these surfaces. This is a PCD car. Has anyone else seen this? Is this normal outgassing that will clear up (I assume it is).

Will post pic later when I am able.

that's not normal.... looks like it was hit with acetone. You can try using a deep plastic cleaner such as https://www.amazon.com/nextzett-9244...6ZEHX59KCBZ7WC

I have the same, and I have never applied any cleaners or conditioners on them.

Def not normal. Do you ever take your car to outside car washes? I suspect they used some harsh chemicals causing it to stain like that.

Maybe residue from the protective plastic film they cover the dash in for shipping? I have the same spots, but only on the bottom of the door panels, right under the handle/window control

No. No one touches it but me.

Possibly. My plan is to clean it really well with a very mild cleaner, detergent and water.

Get some rubbing alcohol with a damp cloth and go over it a few times...
Let us know your results.

Mine is identical. It's never been cleaned by anyone. Took delivery in March. Dusted a few times. Cleaned by me this summer with various products and always comes back.

i had this on the lower portion of the door cards and the lower portion of glove box. 1z cockpit cleaner removed it. i originally thought it was sunscreen residue from my wife and daughter but i guess not. perhaps a side effect from off-gassing? no idea. it has not returned and didn't think much of it until i saw your photos.

I noticed the exact same issue as well. It's all over the lower door panels and dash. 11/15 build.

Ah!!!! I see the same thing in my car, I thought I was crazy :-)
Some mild cleaner and nice soft rubbing should get rid of them for good.

+1 for 1Z Cockpit Cleaner. No oily mess and does a good job of cleaning the interior surfaces.

I only see it when your knee has brushed it or your shoe touched the door plastic as you get out.

I have Mocha interior but noticed this same chaulky residue on the black lower door panels a few days after I took delivery of the car in July (Mar 16 build). Don't really see it on the Mocha parts. Figured it was some kind of mold release or off gas byproduct. Cleaned it off with a bucket of dish soap and purified water a few weeks back. Doesn't seem to be coming back but keeping an eye on it.

Update: I cleaned all of my lower dash and door panel soft-touch plastics with baby wipes. So far, perfect. Will update this thread if there are any changes.

My guess is it is some sort of mold release agent.
