Change annual mileage during the lease
It's 48-month lease with annual mileage 12000KM. We are only in 6th month and find out it may not be enough. Is it possible to change to next level 16000KM now?Just paying the difference. I know it sounds unrealistic. But it makes no difference to BMW Financial whether I pay the difference at the beginning of the lease or in the middle of the lease.

Not sure where you are but in the US you can buy extra miles before lease end at the same per mile rate as if you bought upfront in lease. Unless they changed it, you can do towards end of lease so you have a good idea what you need. You pay for the miles separate but it doesn’t change your lease payment. Excess milege charge at return is more per mile.

My brother has done it here many times. Prior to lease end, he buys 10,000 or however many miles he thinks he'll be over at lease end. Again, it doesn't change the annual miles allowed, it just costs less than if you turn in the car and you're over miles. Not sure what it actually is but for argument sake, say it's $0.20/mile up front and $0.30/mile at lease end.

That's kind of odd. There has to be something in the contract for how much they charge for each kilometer you're over at lease end. Worst case you can buy the x5 at the lease end.

I would also probably call again and see if you get a different answer. Most leases allow for this but I've never leased in Canada. |

I believe in general it's not worth it as you can only by in increments of 1000, the discount is small and you don't get any credit for unused, so it's either a wash or actually loss in the end.
Plus like others said, often you can get out of lease early and no strings attached if you get another car from the same manufacturer. |
