Honestly, I don't know how it would have passed design review/crit phase. They have to know that this will impact a certain percentage of sales.

Maybe its this: The creation of desire is based off of dissatisfaction. i.e. you want something because what you have isn't enough.

So they put out a near perfect design at whet your appetite and include an equally poor design flaw. That draws you in, but leaves a bad taste in your mouth. That creates a desire for something better. Just when you think you'll swear off the brand, they then later provide performance parts which help fix the issue. Of course it won't be a perfect fix. This is what a new design 3 years down the line is for...

If they ever truly provide perfection, we'll all stop upgrading...

WOW ! ! ! that huge rear bumper is abnoxious. Those reflectors are horrible and those ford fusion rear tailights have to go. Otherwise, it's a beautiful evolution of the prior model.
