Do you still have to bed in the engine first 500-1000 miles like most sports cars ?

You can switch off the gps tracking with connected drive from the idrive menu. So no, don't count on that as anti theft device.

Chris, can you PM me details of your tracker? Since my car is company insured they have not insisted on one - but that seems crazy!

Thanks

The question is really does your insurance cover the loss of the vehicle if it's stolen... and do you really want your vehicle back if someone steals it?

That way of thinking makes insurrance a very expensive business AND supports the fact that some low life is taking your stuff. The things you worked for and he didn't.

On the upside, the X5 has just lost its 6 year reign of Britain's most stolen vehicle so maybe it's no longer needed.

Same for my uk insurer LV. It would be insured in an accident without but that's it, no insurance against theft without a tracker.

Was £399 dealer fit

Mine would not have without a tracker but each insurer might be different. For a £66k car another £400 option for peace of mind seems a logical step. Rightly or wrongly. We all know a good thief and their network would have the tracker off in minutes but you've ticked the right box to get your money back via the insurer.

I was against the idea ,,,,,,but people 100% do it please to avoid a lot of stress of the unthinkable happens.

Is that the Tracker Locate or the Trackstar trackerfit BMW approved version and did you have a preference ?

Also you forgot to mention the subscription which I assume if you haven't already got another £300 (3 year option)
