Journey of X5 Upgrade:::::Decide % X5 and GLE Coupe
Chose X5 over GLE Coupe knowing after MPPK and MPE upgrade the performance will get very close to the GLE Coupe, but with way better interior and features.
Current upgraded list:
------------------------------ I'm at the edge of pulling the trigger on a X5 35i m sports, and was going to make it similar to what Alan has in the forum, but then I test drove the MB GLE Coupe yesterday (I know it's more comparable to X6) , and the power and drive is extremely good, and it does come with 21" rims standard and the air suspension. The X5 35i I test drove at the dealer definitely has somekind of turbo lag and the power doesn't kick in right away when I step on the pedal even in sport mode from complete stop or from slow speed. So my question is
Thanks Last edited by hamh; 10-13-2015 at 02:53 PM.. |

Where in Chicago do you live? I'm in the South Loop if you wanted to check mine out. You can take it for a spin and punch it on Lake Shore Drive if you wanted to. I have the MPPK with MSport and Adaptive M suspension.

And to answer your other questions, it does not increase hp to 400, I believe it's conservatively rated at 320, but most feel it's higher.
Also, a chip will only help. Some members have both installed... Kzang will soon have both once the MPPK is completed. I may personally go with the Dinan tune even though it's not the popular choice. I still have to decide how much money to throw at the X5 in the event I pick up a summer fun car. There are plenty of options out there. Start with MPPK. If it's not enough, get a RaceChip Ultimate from one of our great vendors. If it's not good enough, the MB wouldn't have been, either. |

There is no lag with my MPPK 35i either. Power is there instant when in sport mode. I just get over how the front bumper looks on the GLE just like i can't stand the Eclass's front bumper.

Just test drove Blackhawks' M Sports this morning, I'd say I'm ready to pull the trigger for my X5.
The throttle from his M Sports is a lot better than the Luxury one that I test drove. Basically, the comfort mode from the M Sports feels like the sport mode from the Luxury line. And the sport mode from the M Sports finally makes me feel it's comparable to the GLE Coupe that I test drove :-) Thanks to Blackhawks again for letting me test drive his X5! |

One comment though for @hamh the price of the MPPK needs to be added to the budget, since that made all the difference. |

yea, initially I left a bit disappointed from the BMW dealer and especially after I test drove the GLE coupe with 362 hp and 384tq stock. The bmw dealer might think most of the buyers ar family who prefer a smoother and comfortable ride :-\
For me, I want a bigger car that allows me to enjoy the driving once in a while :-) Glad that i can make my decision, now deciding alpine white or mineral white... The goal is to make it less soccer mom feeling |

Must be a good reason since this forum is flooded with them
The X5 in Msport line removes the soccer mom image of SUV's with aggressive front and rear bumpers and flared fenders. Having the upgraded 20" staggered wheels also helps remove that image. The rears on the staggered setup is pretty wide! I can't imagine any soccer mom driving our X5 Msport lines..

Has a nice sheen to it, actually can look like a light silverish color in certain light and is more immune to not looking as dirty when you haven't washed it in a while
