Pretty good, though there wasn't much snow and ice up in Whistler. For Tahoe, they have been excellent all season. Only once did I feel the need to put on chains after seeing some car slide off.

Front window tint is photoshopped in this photo. Rear windows are factory. Just wanted to see what matching tints would look like

Oh! haha, that would explain the perfect match! Are you going to go ahead and tint the front?

Here is a pic how mine is done... not 100% but as close as I could get it (and still be legal). Factory back and 30% front.

Ended up not doing it. Tints plus no front plates will give cops 2 reasons to pull me over here.

Considering the front windshield lets in a lot light, no matter how dark you tint the fronts, it will be difficult to match the rears.

Looks, thanks for the example! And good points by the others too (light will make it hard to match and illegal tint is always a risk with getting pulled over and having a fix it ticket). I'll make a decision when I get back to SC next Spring, but am thinking ~25% for the fronts.

For reference, mine is 20%.

No snow tires. Just the Continental DWS06 all season tires everyone I know raves about. For chains I have the Thule XG-12 Pro in size 265; great fit on the rear 20" tires.

thanks for the confirm. You're the only once I've talked to that confirmed proper fitment. There's a european ski forum that discussed using the 265 on the OEM X5 315/35/20 tire. Someone claims the chains appear too small after install. But it didn't seem like an actual problem and there were no reported problems. The next size up, was way too big for the X5 tire.

So your chains didn't scuff up your wheels or rubbed against any body/suspension/brake parts?

Based on the spec sheet, it's too large for the front.

265/70 - 16
265/65 - 17

265/60 - 18

285/45 - 19
255/50 - 20
265/45 - 20
275/45 - 20
295/40 - 20
315/35 - 20

Filthy as all get out, but rarely are both cars out and about together.

Interesting about the link you posted. I'm wondering if these people just put the chains on without reading the user guide or assume it doesn't fit? In the manual/pamphlet, it clearly says you may have to adjust the chain for it work on some tires and for the 315/35R20 tire you need to take out the adjustment links or it won't fit correctly. It sits on my tires fine. In fact it never touches the rim. If you don't take the adjustment links out, the part that sits on the tire will be too tight and there cause the plastic ring to be pulled upward from the inside part of the tire making it look too big. Anyways, I imagine if some folks are worried about the clearance they can get spacers, but it works fine without any modification to the vehicle. Just don't drive too fast.
