'14 50i winter tire questions

anyone have experience running a 18" rim (currently they are 20" of course) square set up?

What size tire is the best to get?

That info is in your owners manual…just look up the page the tire inflation chart is on. It will list all the recommended tire sizes for 18/19/20 inch wheels that were offered for the f15 X5.

If you don’t have an owners manual…you can use one of the national tire chains like Discount Tire, TireRack, etc to find what size the 18” tire is supposed to be (even though yuou’re in Canada). If you know a good Canadian national tire chain, they will probably be the same…and reveal the correct 18” tire you need based on the info you give them.

Or you can use one of the online part database sites like www.realoem.com or www.bimmercat.com and put in the last 7 digits of your VIN then go to the WHEEL diagram section. They list all of the winter tire sizes, too.

EDIT: this is what I get when I use my VIN: 255/55/18

BMW recommends 255/50/19……make sure you’re not mixing up the aspect ration (the middle number) for the 18” & 19” tire sizes.
  • 18 inch wheels are recommended to run 255/55/18
  • 19 inch wheels are recommended to run 255/50/19

Again, check the info in your owners manual or the link to the part database site for the correct tire sizes. If you desire to select a different tire size that what is recommended….that could also be your choice as well as your consequence.
