Sales Tactic or Accident?
I've been looking at CPO X5s for the past few weeks. I finally found one with the options I wanted. I went to the dealer to check out the car and noticed that the sticker price was actually cheaper than the "Internet Price" by almost $1500. When we sat down to talk about price, they started at the internet price until I mentioned the sticker price was actually lower. They agreed to bring the price down to the sticker price, but did not move very far from that. Do you all think this a sales tactic or do you think they were slow to update the price in the system? You'd think they would update the price immediately to get more traffic.

I'm guessing they are slow at updating... Just offer the dealer what you want to pay for the car based on your research and how much you think the car is worth.

There is a big difference between various dealership websites. Some are easy to navigate, have everything listed, and are updated frequently. Others will show inventory that is no longer on their lots.
Regarding prices, I would assume it was dated material that was slow to update. I have seen some websites that will list multiple prices as marketing ploy. |

The longer the X5 has been sitting, the better your chances of haggling are. Happy to run the VIN for you and give you auction value.

Probably just an administrative oversight but they've turned it into a sales tactic.
First rule of negotiation - know what you want to pay. Their starting point shouldn't influence that (though it may influence how they perceive the deal). |
