Did you see posts #49, #50, and #51 in this thread? If not, click back where 2017-up model years was covered.

…and 24 hours later, I don't think I can ever go back to the old slam! This was an awesome fix. So for the 2017+ models, using BimmerCode you need to do this (copying and pasting). The first digit is only 0, no 00 as was written in the original post. Tailgate Module (HKFM2) > search for 'Profileclosestopnode2PWMplg > custom > change first byte to 0x00 and second byte to 0xC8. |

Soft Close coding
I also made changes for the same 4 parameters for Nodes 1-3 for each. I used 3 different values (ramping up and ramping down) so the opening starts & ends softly as well as the close sequence starts softly and finishes softly. BMW should make these changes from the factory. It gives the tailgate a much richer motion and sound👍

Should be easy for a 2015 model year...just follow the instructions on the 1st page of this thread. Good luck...hope you're successful in becoming a satisfied member of the "silence of the slam" club.

As per post #49:
“Profileclosestopnode2PWMplg > custom > change first byte to 00x00 and second byte to 00xC8. “ I have coded it as per post #53 and changed all 4 nodes to 00A0 in expertmode in custom. Assuming 00xC8 I’d the same as 00C8, have used bmw tools like NCSEXPER etc. for years but am new to BimmerCode but I must be missing something basic here as my 2018 shows no change whatsoever with these coding changes.???

Again, the process is to SLOW the tailgate down just prior to closing shut so that the “slam” is dampened. The info was listed as to the orig BMW code and the hex-decimal code equivalent. You wrote that you changed 4 nodes…the instructions were to change nodes 1 & 2…or if that didn’t stop the slam to code node 1. You wrote that you used 0000 & 00C8…post #53 suggested to use 000A (which is equivalent to 10 hex-decimal)…and 00C8 is equivalent to 200 hex-decimal…so I would suggest to code NODE 1 and change the coding to 000A…or code node 1 & node 2 and use 000A for both (again to SLOW the tailgate down). Return the other nodes (3-4) to their original setting (if you changed them)…then see what happens. 00C8 = 200 00A0 = 160 000A = 10 (this is a lot slower than 160 or 200) Good luck.

It appears CMYACHTIE may have suffered from operator error. But we will never know if they never come back to say if they succeeded.

Sorry ppl, I did get significant improvement with the above suggestions,……finally blame it on my learning curve with BimmerCode

great...glad you got a solution that is positive....which is also helpful to the 2017/2018 owners attempting "silence-of-the-slam".

For the original settings (2015 F15 here), if I want it to close a little more firmly, do I increase the first few numbers, or the last few? Instead of 20|30|40|58...58, should I go 30|40|50|68...68 or just increase the 58 -> 68...or something else? I find that the soft close change here is a little too soft if you have anything up against the back that needs an extra nudge - even just a duffel bag. It trips the sensor too easily and stops the door, so I wouldn't mind extra force even if it gives a small clunk.

So if you changed the coding values to 20|30|40|58...58….the “20” value is the last value right before the tailgate closes. If you want it to shut harder…then I would suggest coding that first number to a higher number than “20” …perhaps match it to the 2nd category right before closing like: 30|30|40|58|58 etc.
