Brake pad and alignment schedule...

Every time I go into the dealership for service they've been telling me that I need to do alignment. The first time they said the alignment is off and I shall do it, second and third time they didn't say anything and told me that it's recommended I get alignment done every 20000KMs. I refused this time.

I'm currently at 38000KMs, if I did my alignment yesterday it would have been the third alignments.. WTF.

Another question regarding the brake, so I'm currently at 38000KMs and the service menu is saying that I need rear brake pad replaced in 5000KMs and 15000KMs for front brake pad... I would have thought the front one would go first ... is this information based on a sensor or it was adjusted by my dealership or it's BMW's schedule. Thx

I only get an alignment done if I notice one of these symptoms:

- the car does not run straight

- the steering wheel is not perfectly centered

- any front tire has an uneven wear on the inner or outer part of the thread.

Before deciding about an alignment I check the tire pressures, all four.

Avoid unnecessary alignments - even on good aligning benches a careless or untrained operator can leave your car in worse shape.

^^^ Agree with the above. Only reason I aligned mine, is I lowered it. As for the brakes, just reset the reminder via the cluster...its very easy to do. The pad sensors do not measure thickness. They serve as a fail safe should the pads wear down to a certain point.
