Do you have a tire guy u trust? I just got a nail in my tire on my 911, but it didnt go fully flat, would hold air but wouldnt move up in sync with the other tires when warm. My guy pulled it and plugged it and said it should be completely fine if im not tracking etc. Im guessing you do not have tire insurance, and the dealer will most likely make you swap it out because I dont think they can plug at dealerships.

If it's possible to patch I would rather do that and the dealer is saying to patch; no tire insurance; tire is $397 new. I've patched tires in the past on performance tires; just wondering about experienced X5M owner's experiences.....I have a spare but just didn't think I should use it so I had roadside pick me up

I would just patch it.
I did it on my 22" and 20" with no problem.
I just won't patch my track tires for my 911.

I would just patch and fill the hole with rubber cement from the outside as extra protection.

I patched a rear one after I've had it for just one week since I was not going to replace it if I didn't have to. Then a week later had to patch a front one as well. Six months later, no issues. Just make sure the shop un-mounts the tire and patches it from the inside instead of just putting a plug in it.

They said it couldn't be patched because it's rebar of some sort and tore the tread; it's not just a simple puncture; oh well. New tire 397 tire rack and and arrives tomorrow. Wouldn't have mattered if I had the tire insurance because the dealer doesn't stock the tires; they said it would take a few days to get a tire; yikes

Tire insurance would have offset the cost. Same tire and lower out of pocket in this instance.

Did you buy the car from SMBMW or just have it serviced there?

Did you use BMW Roadside? Through several BMWs, I've never used their Roadside Assistance (guess I'm fortunate that I haven't had to?). Although I had a flat on my car a couple of months ago and used my wife for roadside assistance. If you used BMW, just wondering how the experience was...?

Yes, I used BMW roadside assistance for the first time out of 3 X5's. They came with a flat bed. It was a third party; very cool driver and professional service. It took almost 2 hours for the truck to arrive. I ended up replacing the tire; purchased online from tire rack. It got to me in exactly 20 hrs From the time I placed the order online. They shop from Nevada I live in Los Angeles. Roadside was a good service and saved cash for the tow; no out of pocket cost to me.

Good to know! Won't hesitate to use them next time. I guess it's already paid for, so might as well. (but obviously will hope I don't have to!)

Actually, it is not my driving, its rather the roads!! 20' tend to be more gentle on the rims and reduce my chances of chipping or cracking a rim due to islands AKA: God damn pot-holes !

I paid $2270 USD and $375 USD for shipping so total of:$2645 USD

While BMW wanted to charge me $5,333 USD for all 4 tires!

1010tires is where I got my set because Tirerack had none in stock when I wanted to purchase my set.

Plug from the inside temporarily and then put winter tires on those wheels and sell the summer tires. Then get new Summer tires when the season calls for it.
