The batteries are coin cell I assume? How long to they typically last before needing replacement? Are the sills just stick-on in terms of installation?

Correct coin cell. Those type of battery usually can last about 5 years on frequent use.

Well I have tried to fit the magnets and just cannot get it to work, the gap between the magnet when fitted and the sill is the problem. Did you use anything to reduce the gap or just fit the magnets as supplied?. These are designed to be fitted by the user and it should take 15 mins !

hi paul,
the way i have fitted the magnets once I' ve installed strips first then i had to use magnets around to strip to see lights coming on/off installation guide picture 4 front passenger door and picture 6 driver door but i had to adjust magnets positions couple of time opening/closing the door several times to get correct location ( there are sticked the edge of the door, didn't use magnet holders to be honest they are useless doesn't hold and sticked at all) , i will try to get a photo during the day light to see locations of these magnets..

Thank you Vezir17, Ill agree with the useless comment. Its so difficult to find the right spot to fit the small magnets, been driving me mad over the weekend on hands and knees in the freezing cold, even when you sit inside with the door open/closed its near impossible to line up the magnet position. I thought the instructions were hopeless to be honest and wish I would have let the dealer fit them now. I still think its the gap between the magnet and the sill is the issue as opposed to the magnet position but that could just be me. Appreciate your time.

Thanks all done, anyone looking at these overpriced items don't bother IMO all a bit underwhelming and the magnet position is a pig to fit. Fitted the door LED down lights as well which are ok again IMO, a lot cheaper and simple to fit.

I like the clean OEM look of these "overpriced" items.

One of the magnetic pieces that goes on the underside of the door fell off, does anyone know where I can get a replacement?

If you know the size, you should be able to find similar to it in Amazon or Ebay.

I guess I'm hoping to get the same piece that comes with the kit since it's black and totally unobtrusive.

Oh, that's just the piece to hold the magnet.
The magnet itself is chrome.

Anyone know what adhesive is used on the back of the black plastic magnet holder? After repositioning the unit the adhesive no longer sticks. I don't think it's as simple as double sided tape since I don't think tape will adhere to the leather under the door. For the guys that just fitted the magnet without the holder, how did you affix it to the bottom of the door?
