Mine was different. During cold start the RPM's would jump up to 1500 and stay there for 15-20 seconds. Then when the rpms starts to decline back to idle speed (~700) i would feel it drop slightly below that for a split second causing the engine to stumble and the rpms would stabilize after that. Doesn't always happen but it only happens during the morning cold start.

Mine has been getting worse and worse, starts up fine, once rpms drop below 1200 it starts reving up and down getting worse and worse until it stalls. Was only doing it every couple of weeks. Does it with JB4 active or not. I'm thinking either throttle valve issue or mass air flow meter. Also if I try to hold rpms between 2-3k range it fluctuates rapidly without moving pedal. Most likely putting it back to stock until I figure it out.

Mine has done that 6 or 7 times but it isn't consistent. Hasn't done it in at least a week right now. Less than a year old 2017 and only 4500 miles on it. Would love to know what to tell the techs to look for at the next service interval...

My car is fully stock.

The thing is that it doesn't happen all the time.

I had it this morning , than started the car 3 times later during the day (cold starts) and I didn't get it.

My car is going soon at the dealer for service , I'll ask them to check what's wrong.

I just installed new mass air flow meters, cleared all engine adaptation values, so far so good. Smooth idle and the misfiring/rough running between 2-3k rpm is gone. I'll keep you updated if anything changes.

JB4, AA Catless downpipes, and BMC intake filters, thats it. Does it with JB4 active or not, doesnt make a difference. Replaced mass air flow meters thinking some of the oil from the BMC filters got on them causing the issue. No service bulletins of any kind on this issue. BMW software is current. Maybe a DME issue?

It has nothing to do with the mods.

My car is fully stock.

The issue is now at every cold start in the morning , but never on a later cold start.

Very strange that it happens only at the first start of the day.

Curious to know what the fix will be for this. Mine doesn't require a dealer visit just yet.

I have a feels my they will call a regional SA or won't do crap, I've tried that route already before and after the mods, before they couldn't see the problem, after the mods they blaming the mods and say the mods did it and it won't matter if I take it back to stuck they won't address this issue, love the dealers!
