Are cv joints a weak spot on the X5?
Now a new rub is when I was driving up a 6 level garage today going round and round to the right on the way up I heard a ticking like a bad cv joint all the way up when following the ramps up to the roof.
It sounded like I just got new tires and they left the label on the left front tire. Are CV joints going bad in 14k miles possible. Have these been an X5 issue? I hope not because the worst car I ever owned was around a 1979 Audi 5000 and it was one of the first with all wheel drive. But that meant 8 cv joints (inners and outers) that I had to change more often then the oil |

thx for the responses.
Today I drove up the same 6 level garage twice and no ticking. My guess it might have been a twig lodged behind the left front wheel thats gone today! |

Haha when I first read your post I said to myself "rock in the tire" . . . pretty lame for your first post.
Today I realized you meant "in the tread" not inside the tire as I thought you were just being sarcastic! But you are probably right as where I park the grass died and its mud after it rains, so I threw down 10 backs of small pond stones from lowes so It would not be so muddy. It was probably one of those small stones imbedded in the tread. Thx * small world. I grew up in brookline and my brother still lives in easton! |

Sounds like you got it solved. That said, I agree with Apple Corps, I haven't heard the CV's being a problem on these F15's.
