New to the gang!
Hey all - excited to be here!
Recently picked up a new X5M in Donington over Red. Absolutely love this thing! Have been a big audi guy over last 8 years, working through a TT, Allroad, S5, S6 and most recently an RS7. Wanted a change, and this most certainly is that! Thanks to the forums, have changed out a couple of the chrome parts for black, and done a little coding. Happy to be here - and great to see a good forum. Looking forward to being an active member. And of course - pics of both the M and the RS here... https://www.flickr.com/photos/131505504@N05/ |

Congratulations!
Coming from a powerful machine like the RS7 how do you evaluate an M car? Specifically an SAV

Thanks for the warm welcome folks (and happy Father's Day!)
The two are very different. But let's not forget, the RS was heavy already (4000 pounds), and had the same power (560hp) through Quattro. It was sharper off the line, and it handled better (I had upgraded sways and it was lowered) but that's understandable. The M does sound better (I have the valves open all the time - did so on on the RS also) and the M is much more of a sleeper (my nardo on the RS didn't help!) Interior - I was shocked at how much better the M is. I have been used to the fit and finish and tech in the Audi's for so long, getting into the M and having leather and alacantara everywhere, plus a great tech package really makes me appreciate it. Overall - apples and oranges. Both fantastic cars for what they are. But I have to say, the M is an engineering piece of work. It defies logic. And I'm thoroughly enjoying it. |

I've tried the RS6 Performance (605hp) , and it sounded much better than the X5M !
Even though I have the Manhart exhaust , and valve open all the time. I prefer the X5M over the RS. The RS is stiff af ... |

I had an RS5 that I thought sounded better than the X6M, but it was NA. |

Congrats on the purchase-I have had my X5 M for a month and love everything about it. I came out of an SQ5, and am happy to be back with BMW.
This forum is a great source of facts and helpful posts. Enjoy! |
