Update

My black Dakota multicontour went from production to waiting for carrier on 9/15 and then to carrier pickup today with an ETA of 9/21. There is one other F15 on the truck for my dealer. So F15s are being delivered to the East coast. Could be a mocha Nappa problem.

hey @radarguy - thanks for the info & that is good news for you

If there is truly a delay, perhaps this relates to the mocha nappa seats as you say. Then again, it might just be my car

Just got updated that my 2015 X5 has finished production as of the 15th and was loaded on a train for Oxnard later on that afternoon. According to BMW, it should arrive on the 30th and then "a few days" at the VPC before heading up to the dealer.

Getting closer I guess!

So no MC seats. I ordered the same. Think about it again.

Have them now - not for me

Actually lost some of the adjustment in tilt with the mc seats over standard in testing today. Gained side squeeze, but never used the leg pull out or upper tilt for any reason other than to play. The added piece in the thigh area actually annoyed me since it had it's own edge. Now if it was like the M5 MC seat, different story....

Hello Everyone,
Am new here and if my question has a thread already please redirect! I am about to order the 2015 F16, am torn between the 35i and 50i - I have a lead foot so am leaning towards the 50i any pros and cons I should be aware of?
Thank you this is a great forum and am addicted to it!

New 2015 X5 M package Status...

All members,

BMW NA contact me about my new 2015 X5 35i with M package. they told me that the vehicle is already ensemble and it was in the final inspection last week, and it probably will be deliver right on time as I did request it... Sound like that BMW NA are serious business. Thanks... my wife will be happy with that gift.

Picked up my F15 X5 3.5d this evening

Wow! It drives great, and I've never seen the distance to empty on any previous vehicle show more than 700 miles before. Yeah, I know that's optimistic. The LED headlights are beyond what I expected, and... I could go on and on, but you get the message.

Quick photos and early thoughts on my F15 X5 3.5d

I thought I'd post a few photos of the X5 and provide some early thoughts on the vehicle. My previous car was an E92 M3, and while it was a blast to drive, it was time to get something with more room and practicality.

Quick thoughts after the extensive drive of two miles home from the dealer:
  • The LED headlights are much brighter than I expected. In thinking about it, I'm not sure why the auto high-beam feature is there. If you take a look at how these work, they compensate the LED field for oncoming traffic and/or traffic ahead of you so that those drivers are not blinded. Maybe I'm missing something tho.
  • The engine is not the stereotypical diesel engine you're used to hearing in trucks. It is almost as quiet as the gasoline engine and lacks the diesel engine sound as best I can discern.
  • There is a TON of torque in this drivetrain. For those with a diesel on order, you won't be disappointed.
  • This is a very quiet vehicle. Unlike my previous vehicle, which was an E92 M3.
  • The interior LED accent lighting is a very nice feature, and allows you to customize your vehicle as you want it.
  • The interior lighting appears to be all-LED - at least the lighting I've checked so far.
  • The sunroof is HUGE. I'm looking forward to enjoying it during the early morning autumn drives in to the office.

I tried to get some photos in of the interior and also of the metallic paint - hope they come through well enough.

Again, these are just quick thoughts and I'm sure I've missed some things. But the early opinion of this vehicle is VERY positive.

Great pictures, gpitts!

Out of curiosity, what were the build dates of your car (beginning and end). It looks like you have the stitching upgrade!

Thanks!

The whole chronology is... Order placed on 7/30, went into production approximately 8/17, and exited production around 8/24. It spent a few days at the Spartanburg VPC, and arrived at the West Coast VPC (Oxnard) around 9/10. It landed at the dealer's lot on 9/19.

Congratulations on the break in the logjam! You've certainly had an atypical experience. Once you get your new X5, those memories of aggravation will quickly fade!

Great news, mrwilby . I'm glad that you are moving forward. Hopefully, you will get your beauty next week.
Mine situation is still without changes - dealer and BMW NA telling me the same story - "assembly finish/quality check" as of 8/30. Lady at 1-800 says that there is no more information is available
Let's prepare for another week of waiting...

Hugely frustrating... Given yours was just a day or two behind mine, hopefully this is a sign that whatever issue was affecting our vehicles is starting to resolve itself. Hopefully not long for you either now

I am curious whether it has anything to do with the double stitching change in September's production. Given our cars were basically produced in August it would seem unlikely, but you never know...

My X5 is stuck in paint shop for over a week. Went into production on Sept 9. Estimated completion date of Sept 17. Current Status: In paint shop with estimated completion date of Sept 17! Looks like there is a storage of Alpine White paint :P Too many AW orders from Bimmerpost members

Haris,
Try talking to a representative on the phone. Mine still has a status of production beginning on the automated system but the car was actually completed last week.

Spoke to a rep. Same answer. Last update was on Sep-16. Finished assembly. That's all they can tell me. Want me to contact my dealer if I want more info.

Finally received a call from CA: "vehicle released to carrier", on the same date as mrwilby's - September 22. Should be delivered very soon.
I think that the delay was associated with the Diesel engine production, or, as mrwilby said, with the stitching upgrade.
Mrwilby, have you ordered diesel?
