The "60" speed is the speed limit indicator. In the USA it is part of the Driver Assistance Plus package. This feature displays the current speed limit on the road you are traveling on. If you have this package you can toggle the left stalk button for the information to be displayed on the dash. If you have HUD then it should display it by default.

Confused as all M50d's in Australia Coke standard with the Driver Assistance Plus option.

I have all of the functions which come with this like stop&go but no speed limit.

I have the HUD also, but only read my current speed rather than the speed limit '60' sign.

The two left stalk controls on my car are for High Beam Assist and BC which I believe scrolls through date, L/100, etc.

For SLI, at the hardware level, the car would need KAFAS Camera (not FLA Camera) so it would have to come from factory with either Lane Departure Warning (LDW) or Speed Limit Info (SLI), and since you do not have SLI, it would mean you must have LDW in order to have KAFAS Camera.

Beyond the hardware, my understanding is that SLI is not available in Australia. While the Map may contain SLI Data needed for use with KAFAS, it is blocked from being displayed.

I think the only Option for Australian car is an SLI Adapter.

We do have LDW (which is barely visible btw), but no SLI.

You might want to consider this SLI Adapter:

custom retrofit.ro/navigation-retrofits/bmw-speed-limit-info-activator

(without the space between custom and retrofit)

Happy to say I finally installed the 6wb. Everything went seamlessly thanks to opasha for the great write up. I know many who don't care for this display, but I personally think it's great. So much better than the partial lcd display that came w car. I picked up a used display on ebay and had someone local wipe the EEPROM so it was as if a new factory kombi was installed. Coding was a breeze.

Nice! I agree with you. I would rather have a lower res lcd display than no lcd display at all

I found out that BMW has changed supplier for a internal component and updated the Item number recently. Also talked to the guy mentioned by opasha and he is willing to sell it for $1850, he was saying that with the new part number the price went up somehow.

And yes it's compatible just like before. What I could not find out was, what component was changed...
