It's normal. It's a little annoying. Happens all of the time at drive thrus

Problems in America ha!
You can disable it in iDrive.

Thanks guys. After i posted the question i found where that feature was on the drive to turn it on and off. It is annoying but like Taran said its good to know when the guy behind you is getting a tad too close to the bumper so i'll leave it on for now.

Another update. Did my first two mods today. I'm taking it easy so far figure i'll enjoy this nice weather with the new truck and the family instead of installing stuff. Still didn't stop me from putting these two little mods on though. Literally took me 15mins to do both. No need for betalink for the roof spoiler. I just added one more strip of 3M VHB tape to it to give it extra support...that thing isn't coming off unless the paint comes off with it.

A pic for those that want to know where all the tabs are exactly..... (it helps going it with the engine hot and on a sunny warm day)

Nice little badge that comes with the MPPK tune...

^^ Anytime.

All you need is a ratchet to remove the 5 bolts on top and a long skinny flat screw driver to push the tabs in to release the grill. The ones on the bottom you will have to use your fingers and trust me it helps when the engine is hot to warm up the plastic so they are more flexible. Should be a 10mins job tops.

It was installed at the dealership. Normally this is a port installed accessory but since X5's are built here it never goes to the VPC Port so the dealer had to install it. Rallye did a great job and I verified that everything was installed since the power gauges in the idrive now shows 400/400 instead of 320/320.

that's awesome Alan, I been dealing with Morristown BMW and will give them a call on it. If worse comes to worse I can ask Rallye, thank you

The rear spoiler you installed, was that painted when you got it? Or you had it painted?

The rear spoiler comes painted gloss black from BMW. Subtle mod but its surprisingly noticeable.

Alan, why did you go with the MPPK route vs. Dinan?

I am also considering getting the combo of the M Performance exhaust and the MPPK together. (because I want to keep my warranties, but I also want to get some performance improvements and really want a strong growl on the exhaust.

MPPK is a flash tune while Dinan is just another piggyback. Flash tunes can alter everything that makes the car run while piggybacks can only intercept certain signals and trick the ecu to make more power. You can say flash tunes like the MPPK since its developed by BMW is limitless. Things like throttle response, how the engine/exhaust sounds, transmission shift points. I can go on and on about what the MPPK does that piggybacks can't even touch. Piggy has its own place if you ultimately want more power but its far from being the best option. BMW guys just don't really have much of a choice in terms of tuning.

Like i always say...I rather have a semi fast car that is ultra responsive than a really fast car that is numb and unresponsive.

Does the MPPK give the exhaust a better sound? Can you feel the higher hp and torque? Better MPG? Or is it a placebo effect?

Better not be a placebo considering the price tag and advertised +80/+80 bump!

The gain isn't too noticeable considering it is only a +20/+20 bump on a 2.5 ton brick but the sharpened throttle response is really noticeable. It also makes a loud overrun burble when I lift off the throttle which I like. MPG is the same as far as I can tell.

Alan
But you cant modify the MPPK setting yourself can you? Are you talking if BMW comes up with revisions to the flash you can make unlimited changes?

Another update.

Spent the entire day working on the X5

Tinted the front windows 30%
Painted the brake calipers gloss black all around
Installed the BMW Performance CF rear Diffuser
Installed the BMW Performance CF rear Flaps
Installed the BMW Performance CF front Lip
Installed IND Color matched front Reflector
Installed M50D Silver Grill Blades along with open grills on both sides

This took the entire day and doing those reflectors along with the open lower grills was such a pain in the @SS!

Here's a few pics i took with my iPhone. I will be doing a full write up on how to install this stuff at a later date. I took tons of pics documenting the process.
