2016 X5 Hybrid 40e 12 V Batteries, High Voltage and Drivetrain Codes- Sudden Death?

My 2016 X5 Hybrid had 51,000 miles, no previous issues. I drove it normally the day before, came home late at night, plugged it into the 110V outlet in the garage as always. Charging current set to low as always. The next day, about 15 hours later, the car started alarming without external cause. There was an unusual gas smell in the garage. Not like gasoline, more like chemical exhaust. The car did not react to any inputs from the key fob. All doors were locked. After a while the alarm stopped. First the driver door, then the other doors could be opened. This happened Friday afternoon. On Monday I called the tow truck. The tow truck driver started the car with the jumper box. I drove the car backwards out of the garage, then 15 ft forward behind the tow truck. The tow truck driver drove it up the incline onto the tow truck. Drivetrain Malfunction Warning, „Caution Car cannot be restarted if turned off“ warning (or similar), motor warning were on. Car drove normal, though. BMW Dealership told me, when the car arrived at their center after a 13 mile transport, it would not drive. They had to to get it of the truck on slides. They ran diagnostics. Found the 12 V 50 Ah and 92 Ah batteries were faulty plus some high voltage codes. They replaced the two 12 V batteries. The next day the car starts, but does not shift out of gear and is still having the same high voltage codes and drivetrain malfunction codes as before. The dealership is awaiting further advice from BMWNA. The car is 7 1/2 years old. 51,000 miles. Has anyone here come across similar issues with their 2016 generation X5 Hybrid 40e? Was it resolved? TIA
