I might get a spare box lid and try it out anyway. Thinking about cutting and riviting on a taller top. Last edited by nitemare; 02-06-2019 at 02:54 PM.. |

The BMW filter is not made by them but a third party whos parent company is probably within one of the companies I listed. Here are different filter company tests: http://www.gmtruckcentral.com/articl...ter-study.html Last edited by nitemare; 02-06-2019 at 02:52 PM.. |

If I go to Autozone and order the X5M filters and they look exactly like the "normal" X5M filters then they will undoubtedly flow more than the 50i filters. |

Hello everyone,
Sorry if this may have been covered before but my 2015 X5 50i is nearing 60K and dealer / key fob is recommending plug change among other items. I need to look closely but I think they quoted $600 for plugs alone. I am hoping it's the coils as well. is this the going rate at the dealership? Thanks |

I ended up going w/ the X5 M plugs & did the BPC tune yesterday. I'll keep an eye out for misfires but checking any codes each week. Bob at BPC said that he'd go with NGK since he's seen issues w/ the X5 M's. Stinks b/c I paid a dealer to do the install so hopefully they stand the test of time.

Coil (12-13-8-647-689) $123.09 = $984.72 (before tax) Plug (12-12-0-040-581) $31.64 = $253.12 (before tax) Total for parts $1,237.84 (before tax) I think I'll find another source. BTW, great info in this thread folks. Thanks a ton for sharing!

Just for reference I’ll post the part #’s I have for Bosch for coil and plug -
These are factory Bosch part # - Coils # 0221504470 and plug is Zr5tpp330a. Bmw uses a different part# but it’s the same only his has bmw logo stamped on it.

Yeah, for sure. I was already there for an oil change and just swung by the parts counter out of curiosity. To be fair, they did offer to grant me a 10% discount which slashed the price all the way down to... $801.04, lol
$54.07 sales tax brought the total to... $855.11. I realize these are luxurious supercars but c'mon, we're talking plugs & coils here.

Finally got around to changing my plugs. My stock plugs were at 0.032in/0.81mm. I put the X5M plugs at about 0.023in/0.58mm and wow what a difference. This thing pulls hard now like it should. Wish I would've done this a long time ago.

The coils are really easy to replace you can do them yourself, like someone mentioned get them at Rock Auto like $19 and change you can get all 8 for under $160 . If someone’s doing your plugs there will not be a extra cost to do the coils as you have to remove them anyways to do the plug.
