Epic journey to pick up wife's new X5

I'll have to post more details later as I'm still on the road driving home but suffice it to say, I spent this morning in Ontario, CA, this afternoon in Fort Worth, TX, and tonight in Albuquerque, NM, but we have a new X5. It's been a crazy couple of months with my wife's 2011 X5 but BMW NA really stepped up and repurchased it so we are the proud new owners of a gorgeous 2015 M-Sport sDrive35i. Basic options are premium package, leather dash, ceramic controls, black leather, surround view, couple other tid bits. I just drove it 500 miles and it is a huge improvement over the E70. Pics will be crappy until I'm home.

Congrats! It looks great. I'm sure your wife is going to really enjoy it! Any particular reason you went with S-drive instead of X-drive? Since you're in Canada, wouldn't you need the X-drive for better handling when winter comes around? Just curious .

I'm in Ridgecrest, Ca. I flew out of Ontario California this morning. We live in the desert. No need for xDrive and I can't feel the slightest bit of difference in handling qualities or stability or anything with the sdrive. It feels sure footed and confidence inspiring. And thank you. Yes she will. The leather dash is a surprise for her. She doesn't frequent the forums.

Wow...talk about a slow moment. I totally misread CA for California as Canada (I have cousins in Ontario, lol). That makes sense completely. Enjoy it, and feel free to ask any questions if you ever have any. Many helpful people on these forums .

Haha. Happens to the best of us. Oh and I know there are helpful folks here. I get most of my answers by searching and browsing though. Used the delivery checklist someone posted here to look over the X5 today. That was great and I found no issues. I have an M3 ordered too so I'm a little more active over on m3post. I'll be around though.

@chiplee, congrats!!!
Let me know if you need any help, I am in Baldwin Park, CA and have great experience on the F15 and F80 M3 (since my neighbor has it and let me play with it).

I'm on the road or I would attach it. Search X5 delivery checklist here and you should find it.

Looks awesome! Mineral white?

With the leather dash option..... Does it also wrap the top part of the door panels in leather too? Seems like it in one of your pics where the rear doors top section has leather on top where it's normally hard plastic.

Yes, mineral white. And yes leather dash includes the area you mentioned on all 4 doors and it's gorgeous. Leather dash is a bargain in the F15 compared to full leather in the F80. Really wish there was a similar option on the M3.

Home safe. Detailed and in the garage. Picked up Saturday at 3pm. 1400 miles and 14 million bugs and it's home. Beats shipping but that was a marathon.

Thanks. I'm on the downhill side of a month long garage remodel. Finishing touches are going in this week. Epoxy coating the floor and building and enclosure around the water heater and furnace were the big jobs. As for what's left; recessed lights, a little more paint, bifold doors need rehung after the jams are painted in the enclosure, and the rest if the cabinets need assembled. That's about it. Should be very usable. Our garage is a large 2 car at about 650 sq/ft.

Here's the overall plan.
