2016 X5M - cracked wheel question

Hi

New to the forum. A question for all - where can I get a less-than-retail price on 1 rear wheel for my 2016 X5M ? I live in Vancouver Canada, but can also purchase in the USA. The 21" wheel BMW part # is: 36-11-2-284-653 (Orbit Grey). Mine was painted black. See pics of the crack damage - I have no idea how this occurred.

Thanks to all those who reply!

That's an odd crack. Did you paint them black? Original owner?

Yes it is an odd crack. Have no idea what happened. BMW advisor said it's not uncommon to have a direct rock chip. Then over time the stress fracture worsens Esp. over potholes etc. Still totally weird. Thought it was just a paint chip.

I bought the car at 40,000km from BMW. Orig. owner upgraded wheel/tire pckg and painted it black

I read once that when aluminum wheels are reheated later in life (like during a repaint) that the material strength can dramatically be reduced, even at temperatures as low as 300F.

That’s more of a clean break. Took some real impact for that to happen. Rare for it to be in the rear.

Yeah - was afraid of that. Still puzzles me as to what happened. Don't recall anything hitting it. A few potholes maybe but that's it.

Is it possible a casting flaw? Or any evidence of a prior repair?

I'm 2nd owner, & no evidence or record of a prior repair. BMW said no warranty on it as it's 2016.

MPE for sale (fits G20 only)- ~ 700kms on it only.

Hello ! .... re-joining bimmerpost after a short absence....
I just picked up a new M340i (2022) and sold my 330i....so...

I have a slightly used MPE with carbon fiber tips (M-Perf. Exhaust) for sale. It only fits the G20 / 330 series. I bought it at a local BMW dealer in Vancouver (have orig. bills) June 2021 for my 330ix. I've since traded the 330ix for an M340ix, so the MPE is for sale (~ 700kms on it only).

Orig. price (taxes all-in) $3,400 cdn$
Sale price $2,800 cdn$
