New owner!
Hey all, just picked up my x5 this week. This forum has been extremely helpful so far.
Family is expanding so I said goodbye to a MY18 S4. It was a GREAT car, incredibly understated in every way. I'm 100% convinced it's quicker than Audi advertises. Just a great driver's car. That said, so far the x5 has exceeded my expectations. For a larger SUV it doesn't feel bulky or underpowered. I also have a new Chevy Tahoe LTZ in the garage. The two cars are terrific at about the same price level. The x5 is far more refined when driving. The Tahoe has more features oddly enough. Anyway, here's some of my initial impressions: I was extremely disappointed they didn't include a blacked out front kidney grille in the M sport package. Boggles my mind why they didn't. The interior finish feels solid. This isn't my first bmw so i understand they like to try to keep the "classic" look on the interior, but it is feeling a little dated to me. I think the virtual cockpit/interior in my departing audi was overall more pleasing. However, the exterior styling of the bmw i much prefer (as much as you can compare an s4 to an x5 on styling...) Closing the doors, the car just feels well built. This is always a big test for me for some reason, but it is terrific. The interface seems to be user friendly, the speech button has worked VERY well so far, probably the best voice command system i've ever used. I constantly find myself forgetting my phone on the wireless charging pad inside the armrest. My audi would remind me that my phone was still in the car if I walked away without it. Would have been a nice touch by bmw to do the same. It took me like 5 minutes to figure out where the heated steering wheel button is. I felt like it is not in the best place it could be. Driving it is fantastic. It feels nimble, which the Tahoe certainly does not. Overall, I'm very impressed! |

Congrats!
Agree 100% on the placement of the heated steering wheel button. |

My last 4 Range Rovers, up until 2014....heated wheel button also on the front of the steering wheel. So practical. Mercedes does this too though...stupid placement on the side. Without kidding, I had a few friends that did NOT even know they had a heated steering wheel, since they never saw the button on their BMWs :-O |
