Eww...new X5 looks so bad. I can't stand the tail lamp.
But as usual, RR did the right thing, AGAIN. |

Both have terrible taillights but I think I'll eventually grow to the X5's. To this day, can't stand the look of the ML's rear, the W164 was way better in every way.

I agree with others about the rear end. Somewhat disappointing for X5. |

RR Sport > new X5 > ML
That being said I don't really like the new range rovers all that much either. If you compare the sport to the new X5M then who knows who will win! I love the new headlights (still wish they used the X4 concept lights) but I don't know why they are still using the oldschool ugly fog lights build into the front bumper up so high. I think they look much better down low. Also the front is meh after falling in love with the X5M front end, I wish it got a little more aggressive. I always thought of the X5 as a sports SUV and mans car and the ML as a mom car. Now they look pretty similar. The back end of the new X5 is so ugly at the top it makes me sad. Still can't wait to see the car in real life because until then I will hold of on actually forming a solid opinion. Some cars just aren't photogenic haha i wish that was the case but it normally isnt....

...And the F15 X5 retains that sporty image. If anything, the E70 would be more fitted for woman since it's much more soft and curvy looking. Look at the comparison pictures of the front fascia and tell me the F15 is not more manly and rugged when compared to the E70 X5.

The current x5 m-sport looks great. I like how the fogs are lower in the bumper vents. It doesn't look like the new x5 has that on any model. The fog lights are too close to the headlamps.

The X5 wins against the ML and RR, the latter just looks so heavy and old.
The ML looks dull. And performance, X5 vs ML, the Merc is beeing destroyed. I guess they haven't really caught up, will they ever?

The rear end of the Mercedes- Benz would probably look better if the tail pipes were showing. That would definitely add a sporty, yet classy characteristic.

I always thought that the Merc was a very awkward design. Definitely front quarter view is particulary awkward. Also the ML doesn't seem to fit with the current Merc design language (eg A class) which is very good!
ML is a Mistake externally no question. Now, I am suprised that the new X5 does not blow the ML out of the water styling wise but sure enough it doesn't (for me). The X3 rear is the problem child. Interior is a tough one. X5 for modern but ML for luxury. Close call there. |

Thanks for posting the comparison. It makes the new X5 look stunning in contrast to my comments on an earlier thread..
X5 has an uncanny resemblance to the 2014 Highlander, in profile at least. Would like to see a photo comparison to that. I can't believe they haven't rushed a facelift on the new ML. It hasn't grown on me, it's hideous, looks like a Chinese knockoff of a Mercedes, rather than a Merc itself. Slab sided, blunt nosed, visually too tall with no ground effects just perched on its wheels. Just looks unstable. To bad about the X5 rear end (girlie looking like an X1), the rest is growing on me quickly, but E70 still wins for its dynamic, planted and sporting looks. Current crop of SUVs look like smoothed over front wheel drive economy brand crossovers.

I agree, I do like the RR Sport, but after seeing it in these pics and looking back at the X5, its seems like a brick! It just looks way too heavy... But again, I do like the RR Sport, its a very close tie between these 2. The ML isn't even on the radar...

I have a 2011 bmw x5. When i first saw it in 2007 i thought they ruined the look the truck. I have no doubt in my mind that this 2014 will grow on everyone and be one of the nicest looking suvs on the market.
