There is adjustment in the two hoops that are attached under the hood. The rubber buffers would also need adjustment. I had to do exactly this when I had my F25 X3.

When I bought my X5, used, I noticed that same gap. One side seamed to be a little wider that the other so I used the actual latch adjustment to crack it down a bit. The evened it right up. I think the actual gap (if uniform) are the double grill is normal.
