I had a car accident last week.

I was driving on 1st from center lane of 3 and one pick up truck try to make a left turn to across this 6 lane road and I couldn't stop.
Police told me it wasn't my fault.

Anyway, when I see the truck, I hit the brake but knew I couldn't stop.
As soon as airbag pop, BMW road assistant call me even I am out of service.
That helps me a lot.
My left elbow broke( I guess it hits some place left door and can't move right thumb finger.(I guess I hold steering wheel and when I had an impact, maybe it pushed backward)

BMW saved my life and I will buy another BMW for sure.(but I have heal up first)

Glad to hear you are doing OK! The most important thing is safety - cars can always be replaced.

Interesting, jurisdictions often have ordinances for fences, etc related to line of sight obstructions for corner properties; I wonder if the property to the right is in any incompliance that could potentially allow the truck driver to weasel his way out.

Assuming the OP's location is Orange County CA, what I see in that picture is typical of SoCal and Las Vegas. The thing that frosts my chops is the placement of that ENORMOUS power pole right at the intersection where somebody trying to come out of that street has to look.

Thinking some more it could be that the city/county/state widened the road to its current size either taking land (eminent domain and all that) or a breakdown lane to have more traffic lanes. They have done that in Vegas on 45 mph surface streets and created all kind of blindspots and parallax issues for folk trying to get out of side streets and apartment complexes.

Heal up soon OP - been in your spot before. Never a nice thing to happen.

Still get jumpy when people come out of side streets, covering that brake pedal is second nature now..

Glad you made it out ok, i too had far too many close calls myself with terrible drivers that's why I now have dashcam on my cars.

BMW emergency call is good for 10 years for MY 2014-2015. Was later shorten from 2016 and on to 4 years.

Best of luck! Most important is your life and health. Cars are tin cans and can be fixed/ replaced/ written off. Heal and stay well!!!!

Man sorry to hear about your accident. Hope your elbow gets better.
This what pisses me off about people: they have a mind of their own and don’t think straight.

Safe drive guys.
On roads like those, I like to stay on the middle lane and take it slow + be ready to hit the brake pedal in case of dumb drivers shooting out from the sides.

To OP, I wish you a speedy recovery. Thanks for sharing this.
