Drove somewhere. Parked. Then later restarted, now no air comes out of any vents. I mean any vent. No matter what the setting. The blower is at full blast. What the heck is going on?

i believe inside the dash is the heating/cooling system that has motorized flaps that controls air flow to each zone. sounds like the flaps go to a closed position when the vehicle is parked for some time, and should reinitialize when the vehicle is started. from what i read, it seems like its functions can be read and checked for errors, u may want to start there.

After a few more restarts, it's blowing a little out the vents now. From doing a little searching, some say a weak battery can cause this? Sound legit? My battery is 7 years old and original! But never had an issue starting.

if ur battery is capable of cranking an engine then its capable of powering electronics, besides, once ur engine is running, most of the electrical power would be coming from the alternator and not the battery.

not sure if carly is comprehensive enough or only ISTA would be able to read into the HVAC. since newtis mentions reading, and runing tests etc on the hvac system, i suspect ull need ISTA to read into it.

Carly might be able to read. I know when I use BimmerLink you can look at the HVAC module.

Hopefully its not the 4 zone diverter behind the dash. I went through my vehicles old service receipts after I bought it and it had a 26 hr repair job to swap out the actuator behind the dash under warranty.

So ac wouldn't blow yesterday at all on a 1 hour trip, or several subsequent short trips. Today I turn ignition on and ac system blows normally.

yes it is a PITA to r/r as the WHOLE DASH needs to be removed, then r/r the unit, and reassemble the whole dash. chances are once something as big as the dash has been removed, things wont be perfectly aligned/missing screws/squeaks/rattles.
