"chassis restricted" error on iDrive

I was driving along the highway and all of a sudden a warning message popped up on my iDrive screen stating "chassis restricted: drive moderately." Anyone have an idea of what this could be? I did search the forum and found one thread on this, but it didn't provide much useful info. I am six hours drive from home right now in a very rural area and the nearest BMW dealer is probably 3 hours away. The car is a 2018 X5d with air suspension and DDC. The car only has about 7k miles on it.

It's a very generic error. It can be anything, but if it was something critical the error would have mentioned to stop immediately.
So the best advise is to drive like it says, moderately, and get it diagnosed as soon as possible.

It could be a wheel sensor. I had the same error message and diagnosed a left wheel speed sensor was faulty.

Just updating this thread; the error went away for several months and came back again recently. I brought to the dealer and they replaced the control unit for the air suspension, which the claim was the source of the error code. The suspension did not seem to be malfunctioning from what I could tell and ride height was normal, but the dealer said the control unit was the cause and they were able to make the error code go away after replacement of the part and reprogramming.

Update: I was driving the X5 a couple of weeks ago and the "chassis restricted" warning came up again on idrive. It stayed there intermitantly for a few hundred miles and is now gone again. I have not brought the car back into the dealer to address the problem again, but I am assuming it must be one or more of the sensors on the struts going bad.
