Not sure if I will get a call tomorrow to request payment as they seem to incorrectly assume I had warranty when in fact only CPO warranty. I didn’t authorize any work and assumed it was covered by CPO.

My warranty expired 12/31. The issue did being to occour before that but I don’t think I mentioned that.

I had 35k miles in the car. So
What dealer in San Diego? How'd the call go?

Does anyone know if we can use the F85 part in its place, and if there is any alignment or bushing benefit from doing so? Part number 31127850157 / 31127850158.

Going in again (third time now) tomorrow. SA says there is a bulletin to do with the pad moving in the caliper - we'll see. If it fixes it I'll get the bulletin number and post it.

From your earlier post, it looks like they replaced the lower wishbones like others have had done. Was it done per the SIB, with newer index 5 parts? Assuming so but just checking.

So todays warranty job was a SIB on the pad moving in the caliper? SM says noise still present, a hub is on order. Wooo.

Coulda told you the break pad wasn't causing a clunk in the suspension. It's not load bearing. At best a ticking sound. But a clunk or suspension noise almost always is the wishbone.

So the hub is worn a bit and flexing probably?

I have an issue particularly when it's wet out, where if I'm stopped and let off the brakes I get a clunk noise, sounds as if the pads are stuck to the rotor.

Damn it. Some pretty bad suspension noises appeared again today. They sound a bit like the noises I had before my wishbones were replaced, but it's more squeaking today. Almost like an old Chevy pickup. And I'm out of warranty. Great.

Could it just be the bushings?

I would just look for any cracks in them or if something has come loose too. Give a good visual inspection.

Just laid under the X5, and couldn't see anything out of the ordinary. It literally came out of nowhere this afternoon. Very odd.

Somehow my bolt came loose which caused the same noises. Tighten mine back up and not quiet as a sleeping babe. You will need to manipulate the plastic undercoat to see the bolt fully. Mine was loose about 1/4-1/2". Even after asking dealer to check all the bolts cuz I just replaced the control arms and it doesn't make sense that they would be making noise again.

So when the vehicle is standing still and I turn the steering wheel left and right, I hear this very loud groaning/squealing noise from the passenger side. It's getting worse by the day. Definitely taking it in ASAP.

Hmm Could it be your power steering? Doesn't sound like suspension if it's groaning. Sounds like a pump or gears. I know we have electric steering though. Do you have active steering?

My clunk in the front suspension turned out to be my sway bar end links.

They replaced them and the clunking went away.

Clunks def suspension issues. Groans and squeals don't sound like suspension issues.

So the X5 has been in for a few days. Thought I'd pop in and talk to my SA. Turns out the passenger side wishbone failed AGAIN. Remember, both of them were replaced under warranty 10K miles ago. If I would have paid for them, I'd have a 2-year warranty on them. But since they were replaced under warranty, I now need to come out of pocket. Frustrating.

That's brutal, they should still be covered for you. Goodwill maybe?

Goodwill is off the table, but my SA will call the factory and see if there is anything they can do.

That part failing after 10,000 easy miles seems bizarre though.
