How long do you change your car?

hey, how long on average do you change your motor?

im in the Uk and get 'bored' every few months. im on car 15 so far i think haha

anyone else get bored? x5 is nice, had a panamera before this, waiting to find the car i dont want to get rid of lol

Longest car I had was an e60 550 for 6 years. This x5 might beat that. I love this thing.

I agree. Three years is my maximum, but the F15 might be the one to keep for longer. Even with my wandering eye, no other vehicle has caught my attention.

I start looking about every 3 years, and it normally takes me about a year to decide om something

this is the first I've had with a loan in 20 years. We have a new policy at work, that if there's no monthly payment, there's no reimbursement/car allowance.I may have to drive this one longer to break even

Add me to that agree list. My F15 diesel is a keeper.

I've been driving new BWMs every couple of years since 1999. I'm on my second F15 X5d which I picked up immediately after my 2014 lease ended. Both F15 were diesels with zero drama and solid build quality during the 3 + 3 years of owning them back-to-back.

Now that I'm approaching the end of my 2017 lease, I'd like something showroom fresh, but I find myself with no desire for any of the new BMW offerings. My plan is to buy out the 2017 and continue enjoying the styling, the torque, and the efficiency that the diesel delivers.

Now....if BMW would offer the X5 M50d or even just a 3.5d in the US again, I might make the jump....maybe.

Normally 4-5 years then pass them down within the family....Never had a problem giving away free BMWs. My X6M though has broken the mold...

I like my money more than I like a new car every year so I keep em till they die lol....

Their was a time it was every year or two I'd get another ride but it started a lot of talk in the office, seems people don't like people who change their cars to often, so I stopped and now just enjoy what I have but make sure what I have fits all my check boxes so really theirs nothing at the moment I want more.

I used to look around weeks later. Would trade every 2 to 3 years.
Haven’t bought tire on a car since 1999.
Have owned everything other than Mercedes.
Bought first Bmw in 2016.
Bought new tires last fall.
Don’t even whats out there.

The problem is that it's not easy to find something better for same money. For example I would like to have a Porsche Cayenne Turbo (not Turbo S - that one is crazy expensive) as it is probably the only alternative that does many things like x5 and even beats x5 in some things. However, the eye watering price of $129k (without additional options or packages) limits me from buying it. Maybe if I was rich, but even then I would probably buy it after 2-3 year lease to avoid harshest depreciation hit.
Now if you are ok with the idea of downgrading to a smaller car - then that's another story: plenty of other cars to choose from in a compact car segment.

I tend to buy new and keep my cars.

We had a Nissan Maxima and then a 330i we kept for a decade or more and eventually gifted to our kids. Still have a 2000 Land Cruiser I don’t ever plan on selling. Still have a 2009 335i that is in great shape and a 2016 X6 that I hope to keep just as long.

Just put after market sound systems in all of them and feel like I'm at Carnegie Hall every time I drive.

I used to change vehicles every year, X5 is my first BMW, I have it for almost a year and it's a keeper for few years at least

Every 2-3 years. A4 Avant is the longest I've kept, 7 years. I doubt I will keep the X5 this long but it's hard to find a replacement besides getting a new G05. Cayenne is out of reach and GLE looks boring.

I'm 36 and I've had 3 cars lol
a 2002 vw Jetta 1.8t (kept for 5 years got rear ended and was totalled)
a 2007 Nissan 350z nismo (bought it new in 2007 still own it today)
and my current car 2017 x5m (got it last year because I needed a car to haul a baby)

I'm planning on keeping the f85 if it treats me well. I pamper my car so I hope it pays me back by not giving me issues. so far I love the comfort of a large car and powerful engine

Until it falls apart (or at least until paying full comprehensive on it doesn’t make a ton of sense anymore). Older cars just become my beater cars. Not worrying about every little damage makes driving into town much less stressful.
