Local shop, not sophisticated at all. I am sure you can call some local ones in your area and they will do it.

For 850$ I would retrofit NBT EVO.
For half of that, any chinese box, they are all equally buggy.

I have changed mine nbt into nbt evo id4 updated to id6. wireless built-in CarPlay.

Even the Bimmertech can be had for around $600, with other Chinese brands...JoyeAuto, CarlinkIT... using the same hardware are around $300.

Dude, I'm neither techy nor handy. Happy to pay someone to do this for me. Besides, I got burned a couple times by Ali Express. Never ordering from them again.

Yeah, I guess in hindsight I could have done that. I don't have much time to hangout on the forums though to be honest.

$850 is cheaper than the alternative. I was ready to trade my X5 in for a newer one with CarPlay, that's how much I needed it. I'll pay the $850!

I am with you. CarPlay is a must for me as well. I use Waze and the music apps from CarPlay. Even Sirius XM over CarPlay (using the iPhone App) has a greater dynamic range than the Sirius XM app in the car. Getting full-screen CarPlay on my X5 was a big improvement.

Waze has saved me a bunch of tickets since my commute in the DMV area has cops waiting to give tickets and Waze does a good job picking them up.

I am also not willing to give up my polarized sunglasses to see the inbuilt navigation on the HUD display.

Apple Carplay is a definitely a must. Got in on the Joyeauto group buy on this forum like 2 years ago for 250$ bucks, and installed it myself. Installing was a bit of a bitch, since I had no clue what I was doing, but managed to stuff it in, and still working great!

I did the ID4 to ID6 upgrade (NBT to NBT Evo) and am very happy with it. I lost Navi because I didnt do the telematics but i dont really care for/need it seeing as I have wireless carplay right now.
