Do I Need to Update the EVO Map if I get OTA Regional Updates?

Newbie here to the forum as I recently picked up a 2018 X5. I tried to search here in the forums and online, but I had no luck in answering the question: Do I need to/should I update the NA (North American) EVO map when I am still getting current regional updates OTA via Connected Drive subscription?

So after searching, I now understand that the OTA updates are only for one chosen region, but if I don't drive outside of that region, is there any advantage or need to update the whole North American map? Does the updated EVO map provide any new functionality?

The Map Software Version states:

"Road Map NORTH AMERICA EVO 2018-1

NBTevo_N18092I

Automatic map update:

TX 2020-3"

I just updated the Region to the Carolinas on my ConnectedDrive account, but haven't been in the car for it to update.

You can do the OTA update or download the complete NA map. There is no extras in the full NA map for the area you drive in.

If you don't have CarPlay I would recommend you get it activated by someone here. Cheaper option than OEM map upgrade in the long run.
