Issue with BMW X5
Got into the car and this message came up. The car has been at the dealer for 2 days. My service adviser just called saying that a rat has climbed in and chewed wires causing all these sensors to go off. now he wants me to pay around 500 dollars to rewire. Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

Well it's hard to say. If it was indeed chewed up by a rat, I think paying the money is your best bet... unless you want an indy or yourself to do the wiring.
Did he show you pictures or something?

I would inquire about what exactly their repair entails, what warranty is offered against any future electrical issues that may be the result of their repair, and hopefully they have a new OEM wiring harness to install, and aren't going to do a solder job for $500 |

Correct, rats are a huge problem with wiring.

I wouldn't really doubt the diagnoses since it sounds too specific to be something your SA is just pulling out of his butt. Either way, see if he can send you a picture of the damage...tell him you might file this one through homeowners insurance and will probably need proof of damage.
