Need Help! In the market for an x5.......

Hey guys - I cannot seem to find how you know what suspension these x5's have? Almost all of them list standard suspension on BMW's CPO list for cars, but that can't be right.

I'm searching for a 2014-15 x5 35i with m sport package. When I use some of these vin decoder's online with the vin #'s , it doesn't tell me what suspension these cars have.

Any help on this would be really helpful guys. I am in the middle of selling my car and want to find the right x5, but I can't do that without finding one with either m-adaptive or DHP.

Thanks so much.

If it has M sport ,it should have adaptive suspension.

Use http://www.bimmer.work/ to decode the VIN then look at associated pricing or ordering guide. I've attached the 2016 pricing guide for the F15.

You should be looking for the following codes:
ZDH
2VF
2VM
2VP
4UB
7SZ
ZSU

I think that is all of them. Most say that Dynamic Handling Package is a must have once they have had it, but those without it don't miss it.

Thanks so much for the info. So if these codes do not show up on this vin decoder, then these cars have standard suspension even though they have m-package? Or does M-package include the m-suspension?

For example - the link below is to an m-package x5. It says standard suspension. Does that mean standard suspension, or does it mean m-suspension which is standard with the m-package?

Checking code should be a good way. In Canada , M sport package includes adaptive suspension. But might be different from the US

From the pricing guide, the M Sport line comes with ZSU - Standard Suspension or 2VF as a $900 option when new. Decode of the VIN does not list 2VF or any of the other suspension options, so yes, it would be the standard suspension.

Just my opinion, but unless you really like the look of the M Sport line, look for other lines with the suspension you want also.

Not sure if there were any changes, but I've attached the 2015 F15 Pricing Guide also for your reference.

Yes, it is different here in states. M sport does not come with Adaptive suspension by default, its a $950 option that most X5's don't have. The chances of anyone finding one in a CPO is close to zero, the chances of finding a new car on the lot with Adaptive M suspension is also close to zero (unless it comes with Dynamic Handling package).

At one point of time, late last year I was looking for a new X5 and I searched coast to coast and could not find any with Adaptive M suspension, just found 4 cars with DHP.

To tell you the truth Ive had 3 X5's. You cant tell the Difference between the air load level rear suspension that comes with 3rd row seats, M adaptive suspension, and the new "handling and performance package" that's another on the option 2017's. If ANYTHING. The 2017 have electric steering so whatever "steering" tweaks they have truly are the only things you "feel" but suspension wise there was 0 difference.

If you want the best Just the the X5M. If I did it all over again that's what I would do.
