Just talked to my insurance company today, they reminded me to upgrade the insurance if I think I will be driving more than 20 000 km/year.
I just passed 30 000 km in slightly more than 6 months...oops. |

Jan 2014 X5 30d with 67000km on it. After the summer the first summer tyre change is up. With regards to the engine nothing to mention, it is a rock solid performer. Ofcourse all of us buying the very first modems had some issues. But mine where all fixed. This is my ultimate family Car, just installed the hotspot LTE for the holidays, so the kids are able to enjoy the internet. This well maintained beast will not be leaving the family before hitting 300000k

30000 on the 50i. They replaced a sticky iDrive knob, but other than that, absolutely flawless. No hickup, no error messages, nothing. Doesn't use oil (I've changed it myself halfway in between their changes). And I don't baby it. It's my winter beater and everyday grocery getter and the V8 gets a full power op check at least once a week. Rain or shine, 110 degrees or 10 below zero, it's been perfect. They did replace the battery last oil change. I'm not worried about it. Tech said the battery was fine. If I don't drive a car for more than a few days, I throw a battery tender on it. If I were to keep it for that many years after the warranty expired, it's not that big of deal... Out of an abundance of caution, BMW is replacing them roughly every 2 years. It's not like the battery would never have to get replaced otherwise. Even under ideal conditions, you would still have replace it every 4 years anyway. So do it every 3 years and you'll probably be fine. I'm not planning on keeping it past warranty expiration anyway. I don't expect any problems, but if there are, they will be extremely expensive to fix, which would make battery replacement seem pretty minor. I'm not sure how the timing is going to work out. I might have to buy a warranty extension for a year or two to bridge to the next generation... especially if I go for the M next time.
