I live in NY and use the yoko bluearth in oem summer size. No issues whatsoever as long as you know how to drive in snow. Just a minor wiggle on moderate snow but never got stuck. when it wiggles you let go of throttle and comes right back no issues. The wiggle is not massive at all, very controllable and minor and i actually have fun driving in snow. Would get the yoko again in 325 rear as it also looks so much better in my opinion.

Thanks! I just purchased the Pirelli Scorpion tires via TireDirect. Can't wait to get them on since the temperature is dropping quick in NY.

Finally had a chance to wash my x5 and take a quick picture of my winter tire set up. Will post some additional pictures when I have some time.

20in 611m rims with Pirelli Scorpion Winter tires (square set up)

Thank you Wayne (@blue dragon) for all the tips and selling me the rims! Much appreciated

Nice setup.

I swear by Hakkapeliittas, have had the studded SUV 8s and 9s on mine and my wife's cars before I got my M. They're the nastiest in the snow and ice.

But I would never get the studs again, we don't drive in storms enough to justify the obnoxious noise they make. (They are loud!)

Installed Pirelli Winter Setup

21" 612s with OEM sized Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snow RF. They're not MPSSs, but they're pretty good so far.

I could feel them give a little on the highway today, but it was pretty warm relatively and they're literally brand new so hopefully they still need to be broken in and the grip will get better.

Going to experiment with tire pressures too, figure out where they like to be dialed.

Agreed, I am not a fan of tires with studs. R3s are studless and has great reviews. They definitely are the best(and most expensive) winter tires. I read about Nokian and they are around for a long time but just not in Americas. I am glad they are available now over here. I am waiting a nice snow day so I can have some fun.

Does anyone know a replacement size for the 611m, seems nothing is available until February.

Also, does anyone know if style 469m will clear on the front brakes? I have a set with all seasons im debating throwing on the x5m

So I scooped up a set of these 20in 611m rims with Pirelli Scorpion Winter Runflat Tires for my "new to me" 2017 X5M following the favorable commentary and great pictures here.

The set was advertised as "brand new" and I bought it for $5,000 from an online BMW parts store. I also received quotes for new 20" BC RZ01 and 20" Vosen HF-5 wheels with TPMS and new winter performance run flats from other eComm sellers.

The pricing for all 3 options was very similar, so I opted for the 611m package. However, upon receipt, I quickly noticed that the tires are unused but 5 years old - dating back to 2018. Since the set was advertised as brand new, I figured the seller had access to the new/unused wheels and would outfit them with new tires - just like the BC and Vosen dealers were going to do. (Last year, I ordered a similar set of Vosens for my other BMW from one of these online merchants who outfitted the wheels with brand new tires before shipping).

Interested in the group's thoughts on the 5-year old (unused) tires. The seller assures me these were kept in a climate controlled environment and the tires are safe to use. However, the manual for the X5M recommends replacing tires, regardless of wear, after 6 years.

Thanks in advance.

Not sure about the 5 year old tires, but I'm pretty sure my dealer sells the entire 611m wheel and Scorpion snow package for $3800. At least they were last season. Might be worth calling around if you can still return the ones you got.
