How to tell N63 vs N63T?

Is there a quick way to tell if an X6 50i has the updated engine?

I was kind of curious my self and tried it, but I couldn't find anywhere to put in your VIN. I signed in and it gave my specs but didn't go into detail on the engine type.

All f15 / F16 vehicles have the N63TU. Why are you asking? Are you looking at a used 50i?

If not, this is a question the F10 5 series forum might be able to answer for you

All the F15/F16 50i has the N63TU

All of the old E70 X5 and X6 50i has the old N63.

Can't be anymore clear than that.

I am looking into a used X6 50i and sometimes the VIN is not readily available. A service advisor said you can tell the difference by the color of the plastic. Just wondering how true it was...that's all!

Just show us the picture of the car and the year.
Most of us can tell you right away.

New body style X6 50i = N63TU

Old body style X6 50i = N63

Where's the confusion here? It's pretty clear cut no?

Not really...when I plug certain VIN's in a decoder it says N63 when sellers say it's N63TU. This is why I had asked originally if there was a quick simple way to spot a "TU" without having a VIN. Like I asked earlier...is the color an indicator?

Looks like all of them are E71. So they all are N63.
