Current IDrive Software Version

I can't seem to find an answer to this question. I have a 2018 X5 and I'm trying to figure out the version for the current iDrive software. When I plug my VIN into the BMW software update website here: https://www.bmw.com/en/footer/software-updates.html it tells me the current version is UPD09051, but I had people on here telling me that's an old version.

it is old version and newer versions are now part of the I-Step update which require flashing multiple modules using ISTA. That software is not even iDrive if I remember correctly, just bluetooth software.

You can take your car to the dealer, pay few hundred bucks and they will get updated for you. Or you can DIY using E-Sys cable and E-SYS using this guide for example:
https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1264746
Or you can use E-Sys cable and ISTA to flash your car like in this this video:

Is there any particular reason you need to update your software with? This is not an easy process and you can potentially brick some modules, so I would not recommend it unless you absolutelty have to.

Do not attempt updates with Ista unless you have a good power supply. It’s a long update and your 12v battery is at high risk of dropping voltage and bricking a module. You will need to tow to bmw and pay 5-600 for them to reflash every module and prossibly another 600 for a new battery.
