Grimlins running amok
I took my X5 to the dealer a couple of days ago. They completed warranty work:
* replaced the steering column * looked into adaptive headlight malfunction and replaced a component * updated the software per adapter headlight bulletin that was out I picked up the car this morning and all seemed normal. I just lost all my coding options because of the software update. When I got home, I updated the coding with Carly. Disabled seatbelt warnings, enabled video in motion and a few other minor changes. Everything seemed good and no problems. I finish up and go inside. Several hours later I need to run to the store and started the vehicle and all hell broke loose. I restore all coding backups and it changed fixed nothing: * windshield wipers stuck on * pedestrian detection malfunction * cruise control malfunction * collision warning malfunction * blinkers don’t work * all buttons on steering wheel do not work What is the likelihood this is caused by a bad code? Everything was put back to defaults and even disconnected the battery. I ended up returning to the dealer so they have it now. I ran diagnostics and it found “interface ssl / fem / bdc (operating steering column switch, 0x1ee): signal invalid.” |

Has nothing to do with the coding. Something wrong with a new steering column, may be bad contact.

I was told now they are replacing some other module. They didn’t identify which one. If that resolves the issue, it should be noted on the service paperwork or I will ask. This is quiet weird.
