Look at the corners of the hood, fenders, and etc. they should be perfect, no dog ears, no stretch marks from over working the material. Precuts are nice, but I believe in custom work, you pay a little more but the work is gorgeous. I paid $2,800 to have my X5M wrapped and that was custom since Xpel did not have a kit yet for this model being so new, that included full hood, bumpers, fenders, mirrors, lower rockers/half doors, lights, A pillars, and front roof. My X5M is my daily driver so I choose to protect as much as possible especially since NJ roads suck! After I choose to have it coated by Modesta Paint Sealant which in word is "Ultimate"!
Here's a pic of the film and the shine from the work done...... |

Sorry for the long responses. Keep in mind this is my 21st car wrapped, so I have some experience in products and installs. I hope I was able to help with your decision, keep in mind I have tried other ppf's like 3M and my thoughts were that they yellowed out after a couple of years. All of my Xpel films have never yellowed out and trust me I would tell in a heartbeat, every car I ever buy is either White or Silver. Also, make sure if they say Xpel Ultimate they use Xpel Ultimate! Many guys out there charging for it but using lesser grade film. Good Luck.

I also just cleaned up my first post. I think its easier to read now.
Basically I have 7 options. Some are designated as XPEL Pro, some as 3M Pro and 1 for Clearshield. would like your opinions on what area of the car gets hit with the most rock and rock chipping and which products seem to work the best. My biggest problem is rock chipping. I also get mold (green yellow) and sometimes tree sap when I am at the lake. Which products do the best? |

I had Xpel on my ex X6 5.0 2010, paid 4k to warp entire front, and back. It went from crystal clear to yellow, I went back and forth trying to fight it to get replacement, they did replaced only front, not the back. Since then, I said - never fucking again. Sorry for emotions, just amount of pain I went thru with it, is beyond of believe

I decided in the end not to put this on. My concern comes from BMW's warranty department which stated that if I ended anything to the car, it may invalidate the warranty. I was thinking that I could get into a pissing contest if I ever had to remove the film and it peal back the paint. I could have the PPF mfg claiming something was wrong with the paint job from BMW and BMW stating that it was the PPF that did the damage.
