I have DHP and it surprises me every time I go canyon-carving. The first non-BMW SUV that came to my mind that can out-handle the X5 is the Porsche Cayenne (maybe models GTS and up).

Coming from a 2016 Corvette I don't regret getting the 35i. I will do a tune eventually but that's at the bottom of my mod list. I may not ever get around to it since I'm content with the power.

Yeah, I think it's like computer games, I was playing a lot when I was younger, but now I'm 40 and everytime I go and try to play some interesting game - it's not same anymore. I probably got fed up. Same with power - once you got satisfied with it - it slowly fades and is not a priority anymore. I think I'll squeeze some more out of my 50i and then I'll just put back all seats (taken out for weight saving) and focus on longevity/maintenance, looks and comfort options. But hey I think everyone has to try at least once to have some powerful modded car in their lifetime (doesn't matter which brand or model)

It’s all relative anyways. I have a motorcycle and jump on that if speed and acceleration is what I’m after. My 35i with Dinan Stage 1 is plenty fast enough for what I bought it for.

This is my first V8 and I can say that although I don't love the gas mileage, it's a blast to drive. I'm not a speed racer or anything either, it's just worth having when I want to use it even if it's just a few times a week. Plus with the ACS exhaust it sounds incredible which I also very much enjoy.

So I am actually gonna race my buddy who drives a 2018 X5 50i in my 2018 X6 35i next week lol.
We did it once already when I had : mppk, mpe, jb+, drop in filter. And he won approximately by a body doing 0-70mph. Now I will have a HFC downpipe and a lighter set of tires on. We shall see by next week, who gets the $300 lol PS he is bone stock. |

Add BM3 to the list, and you might have a chance.

Not doing any additional mods.
According to my rough calculations I should have around 400-420 HP/TQ at the crank vs his ~445. Given the weight difference of 470lbs plus another 190lbs unsprung weight (38x6), The race results should be really close! |

The 50i is 480 torque at crank , 445 is hp , but those are underrated by a little bit. My stock 50i put down almost 370 whp / 420-430 torque to wheels on mustang dyno. I have heard on a dyno jet there more like 400 whp / 450+ wtrq . Good luck!

My only regret is that gas in The Netherlands where I live is roughly $7.80 a gallon for 98 unleaded, otherwise I would have bought a 50i

Wouldn’t be an issue on a proper sports car like a saloon or coupe, but on a SUV I needed luxury with as much power as possible. 50i was that balance. G series M Suv’s finally have it all. |

basically said the v8 you run away not walk run. He said bmw knows how to build an in-line 6 like no other .... the V8.... ehhhhh. It may be fast but it may leave you broke and sad at the end of the day. The risk is much higher you will have issues with the v8 and to have a few grand set aside for issues down the road. |

Their was a fellow on the forum that had sunk over 30 grand on maintenance on his engine. Now please don't hate the messenger I was just restating what was told to me by my dealer. But not all v8 where bad I think it's just this recent model. At the end of the day, not everyone will have an issue but your chances of having one will be much higher over the in-line 6 that's just a fact. If your ok with that risk and paying the higher gas bill at the end of the day for a quicker acceleration than just roll the dice and go for it. Nobody is going to scorn you for buying the v8 or i6 it's up to you but at least know the risks of both and your driving style and requirements like if you tow or not so you make the right purchase. Hey I just bought a certified 40e and the 4 cylinder was thought to be bullet proof! Well it's at the dealer now needing a new engine ! I actually think the engine is fine but they have no idea how to fix it so it's easier to just replace the motor! Oh well! |

This was still covered under warranty, cpo? I also have a 2014 50i that just turned 60k and have really had no issues, but this does concern me a little because my cpo warranty is up at the end of October and would worry if it happpen after as that would be a expensive bill to swallow. You would think if your up to date on your maintenance the dealer would work with you cause generally things like this should not happen.
