BMS sometime shipped the unit with removable extension, sometime with a longer cable.
If it come with extension, you can just not use the extension.
Usually if I know that it is going to be installed to an X5, I don't ship the extension to avoid the confusion.

You can refer to BMS installation instruction.
http://www.burgertuning.com/instruct...e1_install.pdf

For the X5 xDrive50i, use the page 12.
The instruction is for F10 550 or F12 650. The only difference, on the X5, the sensor is facing outside, so it is much easier as you don't need to route the harness away from the motor or even open the engine cover.

I see that, thanks for being so helpful, even for a non-buyer. So while this is no APR tune, it is also 1/4 the price for 1/2 as much power lol. Also, thanks to the PDF, i know i can pull it out and reset whenever i want to.

Looks like i'm gonna start negotiating for the 50i!

Go back to the last page, and you'll see that I showed you the full install for the BMS by a member and my install of the RaceChip.

I have now put close to 6000 miles on this tune and so far I have not had 1 problem.

At around 3500 miles I increased the BMS tune setting by 1 notch. In doing so, I noticed a slight performance gain but nothing significant. The stock setting BMS comes with is just fine and not really worth adjusting if you do not have any other mods.

To compare the 2, the JB4 is better.
JB4 have multiple maps and has CAN access.
Dinan Stage 1 is similar as JB Stage 1 without burning hole in your wallet.

If I understand the Burger tune correctly, lets start that it is not 50 state street legal. With the Burger, you'll need to remove it before you have your car serviced or you risk voiding your warranty (like my RaceChip). Next, Dinan warrants your engine in the event of a problem. And lastly, Dinan actually tunes the motor with the assistance (or at least the access) of BMW's OEM mapping. In fact, the tune can be installed by BMW. That means they look at everything from MAF to timing to VGT (two of them on the 5.0 - 4.6L - motor), to injection, every other relevant sensor and so on. I suspect (no, I don't know for sure) Burger modifies signals without the assistance of BMW and leaves the ECU to throw a CEL to protect the motor.

Whether it's worth it in terms of cost is a personal decision and/or whether you own the car or lease it. Considering the long-view, there is only one option in my opinion.

Just put 60% 100 Octane then 40% 91 Octane mix in my car that has the BMS N63tu tune. Holy crap! With the BMS tune with regular premium it makes a huge difference to the stock F15 50i car. What I was not expecting was the felt difference again with the higher octane gas.

I did not even change the tune adjustment setting, just left it as the default and the car just goes to warp factor 10. Huge fun.

Just part throttle changes, reliability and if anyone is still using it with some miles on it (+6000ish). If you had to guess, how many have been sold to all lines, X5, 7 series etc. with n63tu ? +500 , +1000.

AFAIK, they are happy with the product.
In fact I just met up with cy07 today, he even told me that he is very happy with it and been running fine.
As far how many units has been sold, I personally has sold 100+ unit already.

the tune is fantastic....now its not the end all tune for this engine, we still need customization attributes, like throttle maps, boost pressures and timing. but for now the rotatory dial has given me enough customization to make my smile bigger then the first day of purchase....i have many thousands with my BMS tune, mostly factory level, a few thousand with two clicks increase... it is truly an enormous improvement for what it is.

this and a sprintbooster throttle booster, has given me the level of sport i expected
