Front Carbon lip question

Hate to ask all of you that have them what's the one to buy if you want to save a few $$$ I just received one off eBay $800 horrible fitment just could not for the life of me get it to line up with the curves and work. I should have known better to try to cheap out. Any help suggestions on what you guys have and how the fit was...

Thanks in advance

I think a good value play is RW Carbon. Fair prices and a figment guarantee. I definitely have done my share on eBay and have gotten lucky, especially with the CF interior trim I just installed, but for my rear diffuser I didn't want to risk it.

So let me ask you this KC Tiger I see the RK Carbon one your referring to. Ironically the eBay one I bought looks like the same
Design with the round oval air hole in each side... So do these just get replicated by randoms and then I run into the issues I did today just a straight up shitty fitment...

I do believe that is what happens or close to it.

RW Carbon probably has a manufacturer in China make their parts on the cheap. However, RW does enough volume with them that they can reject ones that aren't up to their standards.

Now the average joe just buying one is rolling the dice. Sometimes it will work out, other times it won't. The bigger the piece the more likely there will be significant variation, like what you experienced.

I personally would purchase with confidence. Just snagged this from the website:

Quality Guarantee

All orders are backed by a fitment and quality guarantee, purchase with confidence!

RW Carbon - fitment is 8/10 but definitely better than eBay.

Agree with RWC. I got a 3D design rep from ebay and fitment is way off. Tried to return it and got screwed. Ended up costing me $800. RW outsources their products from Taiwan. However, they do guarantee their product and if you have any issues, they are easy to deal with vs ebay.

Well I hope the RW Carbon 3D much better than the 3D Carbon I bought off eBay and retuned bc it was like a waste of $140 take out of the box and sweat it out on the driveway experience but unlike the above I was able to bitch and return provided they don't get it back and say it broke and screw me too bc the kid at UPS store was trying to conceive me to have them repackage it for it to be fully insured. What I nightmare but I hope the next one can at least go on and fit somewhat decent. Damn wants vs needs

Besides buying it directly from BMW, RW Carbon probably has the best pieces out there. I just hope that everyone that buy the CF Front Splitter is having it wrapped in PPF, or you'll have chips from road debris after the fist few miles. PPF is the way to go to preserve your investment. I've contemplated getting Carbon Fiber Exterior pieces, but I think that my X5M has enough CF on the inside to not justify spending it on the outside. Now my E63 AMG, has interior and exterior Carbon Fiber pieces.

I used RW carbon spoiler on the M5 and it sucked. It also faded in about 2 years and it was 100% garaged. I would stay away from them...I would especially stay away from eBay CF pieces. All that Chinese stuff has poor fitment.

Just my honest opinion.

God I hope I don't double regret the last two purchases... You see pics of lips on lots of
These F85's and F86's but no one chimes in on what they have maybe they are all IND or whatever the other top manufacturer is but if the RW one when it comes in doesn't fit I will have given up not to mention it scratches up the bumper.

You can eliminate all the hassle by spending the big bucks and purchasing from IND or RKP direct etc... but I would be lying if I said RWC quality and fitment wasn't pretty damn good especially for the price.

I personally didn't purchase any of there pieces but I see reviews on them all the time and the owners never complain so I say purchase with confidence.

I will say this, regardless of where you purchase your CF Lip Spoiler from. Have it wrapped in Paint Protection Film, or it will get beat up after your first drive from road debris. I just takes one rock chip to ruin it, that beautiful carbon. Why not protect your investment.

here's a pic of my 3D Design rep. fitment is 90%. One thing I recommend is putting a black vinyl wrap on the bumper before installing the lip to cover the "gap".

To clarify the vinyl wrap solution to cover the "gap", here is a thread I made when I installed the CF front lip for my F10. Same concept of covering the "gap"; But for the F85, I used black vinyl vs the CF type vinyl used on the F10.

I think an 80% or 90% fit would annoy me, and therefore, I'd rather pay a bit extra and get an OEM lip. They aren't *that* much more expensive. And local dealerships are often willing to price match GetBMWParts if you want to make it easy.

Ok
I get that but what does oem have to offer? Usually oem on the X series doesn't look as good in my opinion. But I'm not even sure what they offer both others I thought are upwards of 2k that's kinda absurd
