front air vents on x5 50i M-sport don't match?

hi,

just got my car back from the repair shop (telephone truck scraped the front quarterpanel). as this car is still new to me,

does the left and right front air vent covers NOT match? i'm surprised how i wouldn't have noticed when i picked up the car new, but it seems like the right vent cover allows air to cool one of the radiators. The left one does not allow air to pass through?

there are some random pics on the internet that seem to appear this way, but it's not straightforward.

US Spec cars' front does not match in any models .
Sad to say, but I saw a CAN spec one and it looks much better

You can however DIY and get them both to match, i believe a member here has posted a thread about it.

on 50i models, one side is open so that air can get to the extra oil cooler mounted there.

I swapped my grills to the open design (both left and right) when I added the M50D fins.

Similar to this, but my fins are painted MW:

You'll probably only need driver side (left) since the passenger side one for the 50i is already open.

The fin thing is from the M50d which is separate piece:

(If you're getting the fin, adding the vent as option is cheaper than ordering from first link.
